Happy Friday everyone!
So last night they were calling for a possible flash freeze here in the Altoona area and that’s something I’ve never heard of before. I guess since it was raining and then the temperatures were going to drop super quick after midnight it was going to freeze everything over? Interesting things are these winters….
Anyways, at the time I start this post the official countdown to April 5th reads: 82 days, 12 hours, 36 minutes, 18 seconds (give or take a few seconds). While it’s still a bit far off, there’s been a flurry of activity here in the Curve offices over the past few weeks with some planning for the upcoming season and we’ve got some pretty cool things in store that we can’t wait to share with you.
One thing that is coming up quick though is our Performer Tryouts over at the JCPenney Court in Logan Valley Mall a week from tomorrow (Saturday, January 21st). It’s always a fun and interesting to see everyone’s different twists on the national anthem, “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful”. If you are interested in singing any of these songs at a Curve game in 2012, you must come down and try out on Saturday the 21st. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the tryouts will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
We’ve brought in some new celebrity panelists for the tryouts this season with Altoona Mayor Bill Schirf leading the way along with Central PA Live’s Dawn Pellas, WTAJ-TV Sports Reporter Sara Eckert, WALY Radio Personality K.C. O’Day, singer from Flight 19 Brian Thomas as well as a member from local band Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band. Should be a fun event so come on down to tryout or just to watch!
As promised from last week’s blog, here are the cartoon versions of our two newest employees Cody Clifton (right) and Steffan Langguth (left) straight from the pen of Bill Bettwy. Now they are officially part of Curve, Pa!
Well it’s getting to be that time of the day where we must decide where we’re going to lunch. How do people out there decide? I’ve heard of a hat with a bunch of places in it and you must abide by whichever you pick out of the hat but that’s really it. Any suggestions are always welcome. I think today some of us are going to Mama Randazzo’s, which is quite delicious.
I’ll leave you with a logo I’ve been messing with for Opening Day 2012 for our website as the season gets closer…Thoughts/Comments always welcome.
Stay warm this weekend…now there’s 82 days, 12 hours, 18 minutes, 6 seconds (give or take) until Opening Day…
