Single-Game Ticket Ideas

Now that the Curve have officially put single-game
tickets on sale
, fans can select any of the 71 home games at Blair
County Ballpark to attend on an individual basis. While here at CurveBall Blog
we suggest having a mini-plan or booking a group, I figured I
would still do a Top Ten Curve Games to attend for the 2011. These games are an
absolute must:

(in chronological order)

Thursday, April 14th
at 6:30 p.m. vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants)
– Yes, Opening
Night makes the list as you would expect. After a long winter, summer and
baseball are finally back and what better way to start your season off than to
see the Altoona Curve get recognized for their first Eastern League
Championship. The Curve have a pre-game ceremony planned as well as
post-game fireworks so Opening Night at Blair County Ballpark is a must for any
Curve fan.

Sunday, April 17th
at 2:00 p.m. vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels –
Capping off the Opening
Weekend of baseball the Curve take on the Flying Squirrels, in their second
season, and thanks to Holiday Inn Express, the Curve will be giving away
Replica Eastern League Trophies to the first 1,000 fans. Sunday afternoon
baseball is enough to bring me out to the park, but this Sunday afternoon game
also happens to include a sweet giveaway.

Wednesday, May 4th
at 6:30 p.m. vs. Akron Aeros (Indians) –
The day before Cinco de Mayo, the
Curve have a great one planned for May 4th. In addition to it being
a Ponderosa 4-pack Wednesday, the Curve will also be kicking off their
What We’re Watching Wednesday with “LOST – Locke & Locke” I am extremely
intrigued as to what this new promotion will entail and it’ll have me looking
forward to the future What We’re Watching Wednesdays.

Friday, May 20th
at 6:30 p.m. vs. Akron Aeros –
Again the Aeros come to town, but who can
say no to Friday night baseball at BCB? To the first 1,000 fans, the Curve will
also be giving away a new logo poster. It’s absolutely alright to keep the old
logo up around the house, but times are changing, so let the Curve help
kick-start your wall decorations of the new logo with this poster giveaway.
Also, after the game, kids get to run the bases, a thrill for any youngster.

Saturday, June 4th
at 7:00 p.m. vs. Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox) –
In the season’s second 7
p.m. game, the Curve welcome the future boys from Boston to town. On this night
from the “there’s something you don’t see every day department” Mad Chad, no
not this Mad Chad, will be at the park to give you a show you’ll want to tell
your friends about. Members of the Curve Kids’ Club get free admission to this
game and they’ll get to run the bases after the game once again.

Friday, June 17th
at 7:00 p.m. vs. Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) –
Last year when the
Senators came to town they brought with them a future MLB superstar in Stephen Strasburg, this year, the Curve will be the ones bringing the goods. For this
game, the Curve will be giving away Tenacious C banks thanks to Sanitary Maintenance
to the first 1,000 fans. By June, you’ll all be familiar with Tenacious C, and
after this game, you’ll all be able to bring this lovable engineer home with
you…and stuff him with coins.

Monday, July 4th
at 7:00 p.m. vs. Akron Aeros –
On the Fourth of July, there’s only one way
to celebrate the birth of this great nation. Watching America’s Pastime,
watching post-game fireworks, thanks to the Pennsylvania Lottery, and maybe
eating some peanuts and Cracker Jacks. That is absolutely the way to spend this
holiday and fortunately for you, the Curve have a home game.

Thursday, July 21st
at 7:00 p.m. vs. New Britain Rock Cats (Twins) –
Thirsty fans will be sure
to attend this one as it’s one of the many Thirsty Thursday games at BCB this
season. On Thursday’s, fans of age can enjoy $2 select 16 oz drafts at the park
and fans of any age can enjoy $1.50 soda thanks to Rocky 104.9.

Friday, August 5th
at 7:00 p.m. vs. Trenton Thunder (Yankees) –
A re-match of last year’s
Eastern League Final, the Curve will be honoring a very important member of the
2010 championship team. As the must-get giveaway of the year, the Curve will be
giving away Rudy Owens Perm Hats to the first 1,000 fans thanks to the
Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. Owens was known for his awesome hair by fans,
but the night’s opponent will more-so remember his awesome ability that made him the
Pirates Pitcher-of-the-year in 2010. This giveaway will get me kick-started on
being Rudy Owens for Halloween later in the year.

Saturday, September 3rd
at 7:00 p.m. vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels –
The final Saturday of the
season will see the Curve, hopefully in the playoff hunt, send the season off
with their second-to-last fireworks display of the year. This game will begin to prepare us for the
off-season, with a boat-load of great memories from an awesome summer of ’11.

This blog post was meant to serve as just a sample of all
the great things going on in Curve, PA this season. In the ten games listed
above, I didn’t even come close to covering all the awesome things like
Lawrence Timmons and a Pittsburgh Penguins appearance, the Zooperstars on July
9th, the other firework shows of the 20 the Curve will host and all
the other great giveaway nights.

Click here for a look at all the promotions the Curve
have going on this season and the wait is not long now, just 31 days away from
Opening Night!
