This will also be a landmark event for the new Pirates front office. The Bucs hold the seventh and 31st picks in the first round and look to add to the crop of young talent in the system. The draft picks over the next two days look to follow the footsteps of homegrown talent on the current MLB roster.

Since the Curve have been Pittsburgh’s Double-A affiliate (1999), the Curve have produced 170 MLB alumni, including 75 that debuted with the Pirates.

Including MLB rehab assignments and players with MLB experience before playing in Altoona, a total of 279 Curve players have played in at least one Major League Baseball game.

Of that total, 104 were Pirates draft picks that went on to play in the Majors and 81 of them made their debut with the Pirates.

Additionally, 49 total players have been chosen in the first round before playing for the Curve.

Here is the breakdown by round of the 81 Pirates draft picks to play for the Curve and reached the Majors:

  • Round 1 = 18
