A ‘hello’ from the newest member of the Curve broadcast & media team.

Hello, Curve fans!

Trey WilsonMy name is Trey Wilson, and I am extremely excited to join the Curve this year. You’ll hear me on the air with Mike Passanisi, and I’ll be working to bring you entertaining and informative content here on the CurveBall Blog all season long.

But first, a little bit about me: I am entering my fifth season in the Minor League Baseball world and my third year on the airwaves. My most recent stops have included the Lansing Lugnuts (Single-A, Toronto Blue Jays) of the Midwest League and the Bluefield Blue Jays (Adv.-Rookie, Blue Jays) of the Appalachian League.

I spent two years covering rising baseball prospects for Fox Sports-affiliated Scout.com, broadcast hundreds of collegiate games around the country, and worked in a few other areas in and out of sports. Along with my work for the Curve, I am the broadcaster and Assistant Director of New Media & Sports Information for my alma mater, Bluefield College in Virginia, and I will occasionally write pieces for publications like Ballpark Digest.

Important non-baseball things to know: I love greasy foods, traveling, making music, and U.S. history. I am a proud native of Virginia, raised on the coast in Portsmouth.

I take and post a LOT of photos. You’ll surely see them pop up here on the CurveBall Blog this year. Speaking of…

PNG Field

It’s hard to imagine, seeing as PNG Field is currently buried under a blanket of snow, but the Curve’s season opener at Harrisburg is only 40 days away. Baseball will return to Curve, PA on Thursday, April 16 (And by the way, single-game tickets went on sale this week.)

Here on the CurveBall Blog, we’ll give you an inside look at all things Altoona Curve, talk about happenings around the Pirates organization, the baseball world, and anything else that comes up.

We released our promotional schedule about a week ago, and if you ask me what I think of it:

I think Lloyd would approve of this Jordy Mercer bobblehead, a play on the long-running joke that Jordy Mercer looks like Jim Carrey.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg on this year’s bobblehead selection…

Here is the full giveaway schedule:

And this year’s appearance schedule:

Feel free to drop me a line about things I should check out around Altoona, what you’re looking forward to this season, or just say hello. I can be found on the Twitter at @treywilson757. And if you don’t already (how could you not be?), make sure to follow the Curve on Twitter and Instagram and like us on Facebook.
