This year is the first year of the Curve, Pa. Christmas Tree, which sits out in front of the main ticket plaza here at Peoples Natural Gas Field and it took the help of a few people to help get the tree up for the holiday season. The tree features over 2,500 lights (approximately 2,700 if you want a closer guess) and stands over 25-feet in height to tower over the main plaza.
The tree was cut down on Monday, November 26th and graciously donated by Jack and Marge Reed of Altoona. Wanting to leave this to the experts, we sought out the help of Beck’s Maintenance to cut down the tree, transport it to the ballpark and then set it up on our ticket plaza for all to see during the holiday season. Here’s a video of the tree as it was cut down on Monday. It falls right on to the tongs…pros!!
After that, it was on to the ballpark where it will sit and wait to be decorated tomorrow at the Holiday Bazaar! That’s right kids can sit down and create ornaments during our Inaugural Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Once they are finished, we’ll put the ornaments on the tree for the finishing touches.

We hope to see all of your for tomorrow’s Bazaar here at the ballpark which has over 100 tables of great stuff for you to help check off items on that holiday list. Pirates-Curve tickets will be on sale in-person only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well. Plus Steamer Claus will be in the house making his grand entrance via the STAT Medevac helicopter from Altoona Regional Health System at 10:30 a.m.
See you tomorrow!
Mike
